How to Create the Perfect Planner
Another passion of mine, other than my artwork, is organisation. I love making lists and having everything planned to the finest possible point. Every year around this time I would go on a hunt for the perfect planner, one that was pretty but practical. But I never really found one that I liked completely. A few years back I started designing my own printable planners and invested a lot of research time into what made up the perfect planner.
What is the perfect planner?
In short, there is no such thing as the perfect planner! I know, sorry, that’s a bit of a letdown. But do you know what? All my research wasn’t in vain. What I very quickly found out was I was asking the wrong questions, I was looking for the wrong thing. In my attempted find the perfect planner I found something else. I didn’t need to look for the perfect planner, I needed to be looking for my perfect planner, or more importantly, your perfect planner! Planners are about as individual as each person is, even more so. We want planners for so many different things, in uncountable combinations, it would be impossible to find one combination to suit us all. In fact, it would be pretty difficult to find one combination for just one of us. As our lives change and we evolve, our planning needs do also.
In 2018 I am going to travel further into the world of planners, focusing on the more niche planners. And the plan (pun intended) is to have a series of coordinating specialist planners that speak to the people that need them. I am going to look beyond the daily planners, the to-do lists and habit trackers. I’m going to seek out the planners that we want but don’t have, and I’m going to play with the idea of a flexible system that will support the numerous arrangements that complement our lives.
